Over two million people are trafficked each year.

The average age of a victim of human trafficking is 11-14. Homelessness and poverty makes an individual vulnerable to forced/coerced situations. However, we have been made aware that social media allows an individual to participate in fraudulent "opportunities" that turn violent and life threatening. We cannot stand by and allow our sons, daughters, neighbors and friends to be victims any longer.

The Trafficking Victim’s Protection Act federally defines trafficking as “the exploitation of a person through the use of force, fraud, or coercion for the purpose of forced labor or commercial sex.”

Human trafficking is the second largest international crime industry at $32 billion annually. It is second only to illegal drugs.

Trafficking victims are sold over and over again for less than $100 each encounter.

14 is the average age of a trafficked victim in the U.S. and studies show that one third of homeless teens are lured within the first 48 hours of leaving home.

New Orleans is in the top 20 human trafficking cities in the United States.

To date, it is estimated that there have been over 27 million human trafficking victims worldwide. The average age of victims is 11-14. Approximately 80% of victims are female, with 70% of those females trafficked into the commercial sex industry.

According to TraffickStop, the FBI lists I-10 as the most used U.S. interstate for human trafficking.

Covenant House of New Orleans (a teen homeless shelter) reports ¼ male clients and ⅓ female clients have a one point traded sex for money or shelter.
